Getting Rid of the Stubborn Belly Fat
Getting rid of the stubborn belly fat can be tedious. In this short article I'll try to point out ways on how to loose your excess belly fat in a few simple steps.
You've tried it thousands times, but you failed every time you attempted to lose belly fat. Your tummy remains big no matter how hard you try! Unfortunately, more exercise or harder training won't bring you any further without a proper diet. Healthy eating is the first and foremost condition to get rid of the belly fat and the sooner you drop bad nutrition habits the quicker you'll notice results in fat loss.
Many folks tend to believe that working out harder, running longer or lifting more weights will speed up their fat loss. In a sense, this is true, but you must remember the general rule that in order to lose weight, your body must get less calories that it burns. In other way, training harder will bring you nowhere if you take in too much food.
After a couple of months of unsuccessful attempts to get rid of my belly fat, I decided to modify my eating habits on a try-and-test basis to see what worked for me and what worked for me not. To my astonishment, I noticed that the less I try and the less strict and hard way I went, the better the results were in losing my belly fat.
Eventually, I managed to lose 13kgs of fat in 6 months keeping my workout unmodified, and only slightly modifying my eating habits. In this article I'd like to share my experience in this field with you and I hope my "golden rules for fat loss" I implemented myself, will also work great for you. Here they are:
Rule No. 1: Don't starve yourself!
I put the "Don't starve yourself" rule on top of the list, because I strongly believe, this is the most important one. Many men and women I met told me, they couldn't lose weight even though they cut down drastically on the amounts of food they eat. Some of them were literally starving themselves trying to lose fat. The reality check was brutal for them, because they either took on weight much more than they'd lost afterward, or they didn't lose any weight at all in the first place.
My advice for you is this: don't you ever even think about starving yourself by eating only vegetables, or only drinking water or tea. This is the most common errors people tend to do, but they seem to forget about the fact that their bodies require proper a given amount of food every couple of hours in order to maintain a high level of metabolism. Skipping your regular meals can and will cause drastic slowdown in your metabolism, because your body will try to "defend" itself against starving. It will switch to the fat burning mode, but it will try to burn the fat as slow as possible because it "thinks" you don't have access to food and it will try to preserve your energy source for as long as it can.
Therefore skipping your regular food intake will inevitably bring your metabolism speed down, slowing down your fat burn speed, but you will also feel weak and exhausted with no will for work or any other activity. Your body will switch to the "preservation mode" forcing you to stop any activity that is not essential for sustaining your basic body life processes.
Moreover, if you stop eating regularly your body will think that there's a food shortage and next to slowing down metabolism, it will attempt to store as much energy as it can once you eat. This is the cause for the "rebound effect" where your body stores all the energy from food in body fat, after a prolonged time of food shortage.
Rule No. 2: Eat healthier
This rule was placed near the top, because I believe it's one of the most important. But please, I beg of thou, don't get me wrong - by eating healthier I don't mean dropping your favorite foods and replacing it with the super-duper healthy food only like vegetables and stuff. What I mean is that you should carefully make your food buying decisions selecting products that have more protein and fiber rather than fat and carbs.
That's right carbohydrates in connection with fat is the key factor for getting more body fat. So, if you want to get rid of the belly fat, you should reduce carbohydrates and fat in your diet in favor of protein and fiber. For example, eat more low-fat meat like chicken breast instead of pork. Eat regularly and don't let your body to switch into the "preservation mode". Preferably you should eat every 2 to 3 hours.
Eating healthier also means that you should reduce alcohol intake. Please do not drink more than a couple of beers a week. Alcohol is very rich in calories and reducing the amounts you drink will significantly speed up your fat loss. You can trust me on that one.
The last thing I'd like to mention here is sweets. Avoid these at all costs. If you're addicted to sweets and can't live without them, please reduce the amounts you eat. In rule number 3 later on, I'm explaining how to eat healthier without dropping sweets completely.
Rule No. 3: Eat whatever you want, one time a week
Staying motivated is probably the most hard part of the fat-loss process. But don't give up. with my Rule No. 3 you'll keep motivated without getting frustrated.
Pick a day in the week, let's say Saturday, when you're allowed to eat and drink whatever you want without feeling guilty. The diversification will keep you motivated because during the whole week on diet you'll know that in the end you will be allowed to eat something you couldn't.
Rule No. 4: Drink lots of water
Water is essential to keep your metabolism rate at high levels, burn fat and transport toxins out of the body. Remember to drink anywhere from 2 to 4 liters of still water each day and increase the amounts you take on the workout days.
Also, you can use this simple trick to eat less time: drink a cup of water before your meal. This will make you fell full after eating only half of your usual serving.
